Shocker (1/1)

Hera woke up with the sun, having slept the best slumber in about forever. She yawned and stretched languorously on her futon, managing to tangle herself amidst her comforter. She didn’t want to open her eyes yet, so instead, she indulged herself into the feel of the breeze against her skin as her ears picked up the sound of chirping birds. Man, it felt so good! Had she died and gone to heaven already? That thought caused her eyes to flash open, earning a sharp glare of the sun rays in her eyes. Flinching, she slowly opened then and looked around. She was still on Earth. Sitting up, she took her own sweet time into rubbing the sleep away when she remembered Hongki. Up in a flash, she ran inside to his room, peering in to find the bed clean and spotless. When she checked the kitchen, she found no one, save for a yellow Post-It note that said, ‘By the time you read this, I’ll be gone. Left at 4 am, so you were in dreamland. Take care and the fridge is stocked with food. Call the grocery store and do whatever you want. Remember to take your medicines. Love, Hongki.’Hera smiled in glee. Finally, she had the whole house to herself. She glanced at the kitchen table, only to find a plate covered with a white cloth. Leaving the note on the table, she walked over to the plate and lifted the cloth to reveal bacon, eggs and toast that had already ran cold. Whatever, she thought, grabbing a fork and swallowed everything down in a matter of minutes. To finish off, she stuck her head in the fridge for something to drink. She found bottles of milk stuck between the bowls of kimchi and pickled radish. She brought one out and took a swig, walking off to pack her bags.First things first though. She pulled her futon back into her room, folding in the comforter and bedspread and laid the lantern and her book on the pile of white sheets. Next, she stripped from her dress from last night. She hadn’t bothered to change into something more comfortable to sleep in, so she didn’t have to worry to put them in the washing machine. She slipped on a pair of baggy jeans and a comfortable t-shirt and shrugged on her jacket, finding the pair of trekking boots at the bottom of the closet. Slipping them on, she went to rummage through the cupboards for a bag she could use. She found a big one, so she stuffed in a clean pair of t-shirt and sweats, shoving in a box of pencils and her sketchpad, and walked to the kitchen, grabbing a pack of Oreos and a packet of peppero sticks. She found the bottle of milk where it was and shoved that in as well, closing the bag when she was done packing.“Well, this is going to be fun,” she muttered to herself as she closed the front door and walked back to her room, out to the courtyard and closed the door everywhere. Stepping on the small field of grass that led to the forest, memories hit her. She remembered playing there. Long time ago, when she didn’t know she was dying. A red ball, Hongki and a pair of eyes. Eyes so blue they seemed as if electricity ran through them. She shivered. A paw, Hongki’s yell, bodyguards rushing in, trashing and kicking. Oh, lord.Hera shook her head, as if the images could get out with a shake of her head. Taking a deep breath and shoving her keys into her pocket, she started towards the forest.Concurrently.  Kai stepped out of the room he shared with Suho and Chen, only to be greeted with a panda whirlwind.“Hyung! Hyung!” Tao exclaimed. “Do you think we’ll go meet the new neighbors today?”Kai sighed and shook his head. Trust Tao to be high on nothing in the morning. Didn’t he have anything else to do?“No Tao. 12 boys walking in on their property is kind of too much for humans to handle,” Kai bluntly answered, earning himself a sad ‘Oh’ from Tao.Walking past the saddened wolf, Kai made his way down to where 10 wolves sat around the table, shoving food down their throat as they listened to Kris point out patrol for the day. Apparently, they were supposed to check out the perimeter of the village. Considering it would be done in a matter of minutes, Suho also pointed out that they were to start cleaning the house, for it seemed like a tornado had passed through overnight. A series of groan was let out. Kai raised an eyebrow meeting eyes with Suho who tossed him a muffin.“Eat up, Kai,” Suho, the Korean Alpha instructed.“Kai, you wanna help in cleaning?” D.O asked, talking through a mouthful of eggs.“Sure. Just don’t expect me to clean the toilet,” he responded with a shrug.“No that’s Sehun’s job,” D.O comforted, earning himself a swat on the head with a pancake, causing him to glare at Sehun who glared back.“No playing with food!” Suho yelled before everyone started throwing stuff at each other. Kris simply shook his head. Disciplining the out of hand wolves was not his job.“So, if you’re done eating, go out to do whatever you have to,” Suho instructed, earning another series of groans and protests. However, everyone dispersed to do their jobs when they heard it.Hera huffed as she stepped on the bark of a fallen tree. So far, she had been ecstatic about exploring and the green wonderland heightened her inspiration to draw. She thought of wolves and deer, hiding amongst the floras of the place. And maybe she’d even draw a girl standing in wonder between them. Her fingers itched to grab a pencil and start drawing. She sat herself on the bark, brushing the moss away so her bottom wouldn’t get dirty. She opened her bag and pulled out the packet of Oreos, taking a bite of the creamy and chocolaty biscuit. She allowed her gaze to take in her surroundings. Everywhere she looked was filled with trees with moss covering their trunks. Wild ferns and herbs grew almost everywhere. Even the ground was green, seeing how wet leaves were strewn around. Birds pecked around, chirping happily while bees buzzed taking pollen from a flower to another. Somewhere around, she heard the flickering of leaves as squirrels ran around. She had never paid attention to the beauty of nature before and she knew if she stayed in Wando, that would change, she thought as she munched on another biscuit, when a thought struck her. Would it echo if she screamed at the top of her lungs? Well, it worked in movies. Why wouldn’t it work now? She decided to try.Clutching her packet of unfinished Oreos and swallowing what she had in her mouth, she stood up carefully on the slippery bark and braced herself to shout.“Hello,” her voice came out soft. Maybe it was the timidity and fear that laid inside her. Adrenaline and excitement were also present, so focusing on them, she exclaimed more boldly.“HELLO!” she yelled. This time, her voice was amplified times a thousand as it bounced off the barks and leaves. Fascination replaced her excitement."HELLOOOO!!!!" she yelled again, this time louder. The leave ruffled as a sudden wind blew, whipping her dark hair around. Crows cawed and ravens mocked. Innocent sparrows flew off and darling deer hid in their cribs. Why did feel as if danger was coming? The scream was louder than a shriek. Or maybe it was their sensitive hearing acting up. However, they couldn't place the reason and emotion behind the scream. It wasn't pain nor fear. It wasn't adrenaline either. All it took was one look from both Alphas and all 12 wolves were on their fours, having already transformed into giant, super-sized animals and started running at lightning speed towards the scream.Form a circle, entrap the person in, Kris commanded in his Alpha voice that was deeper considering it had been multiplied by a thousand. They obeyed. Kai felt everyone change positions, some flanking his right, some taking off to the left. Soon... Approximately 30 seconds.A brand new scent caught Kai's nostril. Jasmines and lilies mixed with an emotion he could not identify. It smelled good...Do you smell that? he asked Sehun who was on his right. 10 seconds.Yep. I suddenly want to ravish it, the latter answered, with a mental image of him licking his lips.Dibs, Kai argued as he pushed himself faster. Now.He came to a halt. The creature in front of him was not who he expected. They came with pagentry, like water that flew free amongst a labyrinth of wood. It was majestic. Lliterally. Wolves, all of them coloured differently with eye colour that could not have been humane at all. Gigantic beasts that growled low in their throats. Suddenly, Hera's hand itched to pet one of them. She turned around in a small circle, her amazed, shockingly fascinated gaze taking all of the wolves at once. They regarded her with an undecipherable gaze and she met each of theirs with an amazement of her own. But when she met one, she knew air was knocked out of her. So blue it seemed as if electricity coursed through them. She remembered those eyes so clearly. She didn't have time to control herself.Instead, she passed out, electric blue eyes the only thing she remembers.   Hello again!
